“When I began writing [Static Cling], I really started acquiring the idea of modification and how society has changed and what’s gone on in the last 20 years and the development of our characters and how they would react to change,” series creator. “It felt natural, because it was not only about change, about somebody finding who they are and making that bold option to go through that modification.”

Murray will return to voice Rachel after voicing the initial character on the program.

While a number of animations have included LGBTQ storyline and characters now, “Rocko’s Modern Life” was groundbreaking throughout its initial run. “We were still playing by the guidelines, so to speak, and still attempting to interject those scenarios [into the animation],” he told EW.The storyline will show the characters triggered to discover their buddy who left her family on an objective of “self-discovery.” Her family hasn’t seen her in years and her daddy has a tough time accepting her as trans, but Rocko and his gang of good friends quickly adapt.

“‘Rocko’s Modern Life: Static Sticking’ tells a gorgeous– and amusing– story about accepting modification,” Nick Adams, GLAAD’s director of transgender representation, told the outlet. “The more youthful characters accept Rachel immediately; recognizing she’s still their buddy. And while Rachel’s daddy is sluggish to accept modification within his own household, even he recognizes that enjoying your child should be genuine. This story of addition and approval is so needed in our existing environment.”

Adams talked to manufacturers on the film.
