‘My lips are sealed!’ Actress Sigrid Thornton keeps coy about speculation drama series Wentworth will be axed after 7 seasons –

Speculation has been simmering that struck drama Wentworth will not be returning for a season 8.

And actress Sigrid Thornton has kept her lips sealed on the fate of the Foxtel drama, which will end up filming its last episode of season seven next week.

Talking To Studio Ten on Monday, the 59-year-old said: ‘My lips are sealed. I can’t tell you how sworn to secrecy Wentworth cast members actually are.’

She went on to discuss the show’s devout fan base, stating: ‘The depth of that fan base is such that I have actually never seen.’

‘To the level that they will seek a rumour before the rumour is anywhere,’ she added.

The acclaimed brunette joined the cast of Wentworth in season four as a special guest, prior to joining as a long-term member in season 5.

The Herald Sun just recently reported that Foxtel refused to confirm the series’ end was near.

‘Discussions between Foxtel and FremantleMedia regarding future seasons of Wentworth continue,’ a statement released to the publication read.

‘Season seven of the series will conclude production in Melbourne on Friday July 27th.

The Studio 10 panel likewise asked Sigrid to address speculation that SeaChange, the ABC drama she starred in from 1998 to 2000, would be getting a reboot.

‘A great deal of individuals asked me about this at the Logies awards recently, and I had to go online and see (the rumours) for myself,’ she said

‘Again my lips are sealed. I can’t speak about it, I don’t know anything more than everybody else. I have some terrific ideas.’

Sigrid stayed quiet on her thoughts about doing a reboot, but did let slip that if it were to take place, the deciding aspect would be the script writing.

She described: ‘Unless the writing is up to par– which is a huge require a show like SeaChange, which had exceptional standards of editing a long period of time– unless we can match that and better it, it will be challenging.

‘That is not to state we can’t do it. Anything is possible,’ she included.
